Surveys headed out now!
almost 4 years ago – Wed, Aug 05, 2020 at 12:09:23 PM

Our test of the BackerKit surveys seemed to go smoothly. So now we'll be sending them to all of our backers who registered to get rewards.

If you backed at the $20 level or above, look for those surveys in your inbox today. I highly recommend you fill them out right away. It just takes a minute and then it's done! (And you won't have a box with your name on it hanging around on our end waiting for an address.)

If you backed at the $1 level, we won't be sending you a survey. But you can still preorder a box of the cards here

As always, thanks for your support!

Surveys go out this week
almost 4 years ago – Mon, Aug 03, 2020 at 10:01:00 PM

Hi Everyone!

I'll be using a service called BackerKit to collect your addresses. There are a couple of advantages it offers. The central one is that it allows you to update your address in case you move before we fulfill. It also provides us a way to collect preorders, so if you know folks who missed the campaign and still want to get a game in the first printing, this provides a way to do that: just send them this link.

Expect to see a survey from BackerKit on our behalf this week. A few of you will receive surveys earlier, so we can test our process to make sure there are no hiccups.

Either way, it should (hopefully!) be clear and easy to fill them out!

Box design, plus a shout-out to the Moving Patterns campaign
almost 4 years ago – Wed, Jul 29, 2020 at 08:49:06 PM

I thought you all might like to see a peek at the package design. This isn't quite done yet, but it's getting there. There's a good chance the final version will resemble this mock-up pretty closely.

Pretty snazzy, right?

Coming soon: I'll be collecting your mailing info (where applicable) and sharing more elements of the game as they get completed. Keep an eye out for future updates in early August.

Also, I wanted to give a shout-out to the Moving Patterns game being Kickstarted now. Malke Rosenfeld, the mind behind it, has done really cool work for years combining math and dance. Her new game gives a way for kids to get into moving and dancing through patterns. I thought it looked cool, and thought you might like to know about it!

Here's the link to the campaign

What's ahead
almost 4 years ago – Sat, Jul 18, 2020 at 02:39:43 AM

Hi Everyone,

The major project that had all my attention is now wrapped!

So, an update on what's ahead for Multiplication by Heart.

Soon, we'll port our campaign over to BackerKit, or possibly another service. This will allow us to confirm all your addresses and orders. Expect a note on that in the next few weeks.

Once we have your address confirmed, we'll send out the first round of orders to those of you who got a Prime Climb game. We'll also shift into high gear on designing the remaining parts of Multiplication by Heart.

Still to design: the box (which is close), the instructions, and the mini-games, which will be emailed out a week at a time after the cards are printed and delivered.

We've already been through about 7 drafts of the box with our graphic designers, and it's looking great! I'll share elements of each piece as they get completed.

That's the outlook for now. More updates soon!

Still on track!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, Jun 22, 2020 at 12:39:15 AM

A few of you have pinged me to ask for an update. What, indeed, is happening?

Right as the Kickstarter campaign was closing, we were called in to make our summer curriculum remote for Seattle Public Schools. It is a huge project, with an ambitious timeline. We needed to create a totally new version of our curriculum that students could do from home, with video support. We’ve been working nonstop to get it done in time for summer. At this point, 15,000 students are signed up to take part in the program.

The good news is that it looks like we’re going to beat the clock, and I’ve got a moment to give a little update on Multiplication by Heart. In spite of everything, we have been moving forward: our graphic designer has gone through several iterations of the box, and we’ll be turning toward designing the instructions next month.

I’ll be back in July with a more detailed update. For now, though, know that the project is still on track. Thanks, as always, for your support!
